More talk about layout

OK, it’s getting close. I like the colors, I like the layout as it appears in Firefox. I need feedback from people using IE–is the sidebar still falling to the bottom? Also, if anyone more familiar with CSS could look at my source code and tell me how to fix any IE bugs, that would be awesome.

I’m using IE 7. Everything looks great to me.

Sweet. Though IE7 is strangely competent. I think Shake is using IE6. Might as well use an etch-a-sketch to draw my layout for him.

I really like the new look. I think it looks really good, though I do also use Firefox, so I can’t be much help re: IE.

I know you wont link to Mosley’s blog b/c of the DeMeco debacle, but did you see what he said about he Texans? He actually said some good things, and I was generally pleased with what he said.

I would suggest making the main container width a little more relative to the screen size. It looks like right now the container size is static, which creates a lot of wasted space on widescreen monitors:

That’s nit picking, though. I like the new colors and layout.

    Chap:
Ideally, I would do just that. I’d like to have the main container and the alpha column relative to screen size, with the beta column and distance between the columns fixed.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do this.

EDIT: I played with percentages in place of some fixed widths and it looks right to me. Less wasted space on your screen?

I like the layout Matt (except after that latest edit I’m not getting any sidebar at all). Design looks good though.

    So to return to football;

Did you catch Stephanie’s post on Romo smirking at Bennett before the INT? Funny stuff. I’m not predicting Romo will be a bust, but it would be so sweet if he turns into Dallas’ David Carr. While we end up with Aikman redux. The thought makes me giddy.

HEY NOW. Don’t be talkin’ smack about IE6.

I could use better browsers, but that would require me to be reading & posting from my home PC…instead of work. That’s just barbaric. You guys are assholes for even suggesting it.

P.S. Please try to keep the noise down so that no one around here gets suspicious. Ssssshhhhhhh.

Oh yeah, and for some actually meaningful stuff….the format looks really nice now, and the sidebar has been taken off suicide watch. It’s not quite as pleasing to the eye as Jacoby Jones, but for now it will suffice.

I just read his comments. All in all, pretty even-handed. Then again, he also ranked us something like 29th in his preseason power rankings, so I don’t know how much we’ve actually won him over.

    Also, he’s a jerk-off AND a Cowboys fan. Double-whammy.

You’ve got to get Texans Blue for the sidebar, instead of Generic Blue. Otherwise, it’s looking great. (I’m using Firefox, BTW).

    Re: Colors.

That’s as close as I can get to Steel Blue and Battle Red. I think it’s pretty accurate, at least on my laptop.
