Sep 8, 2007 2007 Season, Batman, Predictions Guaranteed To Go Wrong, Preseason 2007, Teams that aren't the Texans
Thursday night’s game was all well and good in that it was real football that mattered beginning to end. Football is back, yada yada yada. However, for all of us not living in Indianapolis (thankfully) or New Orleans, there is one day left until we kick off the season for real.
For fans of the Juggernaut, of course, tomorrow’s game against the Chiefs is full of storylines. Will Schaub keep making us forget about Zoolander? Is Ahman Green as much of an upgrade as we think? Are the Chiefs going to be worse than the Raiders this year? [Author's note: The answer to all of those questions is "yes."]
Now, I am on record as counting this game as one of our nine wins. I still believe that and, other than laughing about the Chiefs failures to win a playoff game since Bill Clinton’s first year in office, I have little to add.
I do think, however, that this is as good a place as any to throw out the official DGDB&D 2007 Predictions. Let’s rock. (# denotes first round bye, * denotes wild card)

I’m pretty much with you on the division rankings. Glad to see somebody finally giving Pittsburgh some credit; Cinci is a hype machine every year. Washington over Dallas is interesting though. Is that prediction based on spite? If so, I fully support it. Hope it’s true too, cause I’m going to have to watch every one of those Skins games.
In the NFC championship game though, I’m sorta feeling Philly over Chicago. I still think McNabb is the best QB in the NFC right now, and I’m banking on him actually staying healthy for a full season.

The Washington over Dallas pick is 37% spite, 31% me thinking this team is a due for a regression, 24% Washington being my under-the-radar pick, and 8% hatred for Romo.
As for Philly, I toyed with that idea. I like Philly this year, but I am beginning to think McNabb is just cursed. If they get one of the byes, though, I think their odds increase by a ton. (More than the usual increase for getting a bye, I mean.)

Out of curiousity, if we pwn Jacksonville this season as everyone expects us to, how would they finish ahead of us? Do you really think they go 10-6?

I’ve got them at 9-7/10-6, with us splitting the two games. I think Garrard is an upgrade over Leftwich, that D is still very good, and MoJo Drew is the real deal. I think we can be right there with them, though.
Which, I realize, kind of flies in the face of my “we will beat them because they’ll be out of it in week 17″ theory. Damn it. Change that to we will beat them because we ALWAYS beat them at least once.
