I saw that right before I went to sleep. I’ve got a couple thoughts on the whole incident that I’ll post in a little while. Long story short, though, I think I side with Travis in the whole thing.

Kris Brown - special teams player of the week, for sure!
And I’ve got no love lost on Olbermann, but Travis Johnson’s tirade was inexcuseable. If Trent Green had been up and walking, that’s one thing, but to yell at a guy while he’s unconscious on the ground is screwed up.

Mr. Matt;
When you are writing up Trent vs Travis I suggest you reference Kissing Suzy Kolber (Thanks to Displaced Texans for the link via BRB).

#1) They are right. Fuck Trent Green.
#2) They are funny.

Ha! I just came from the KSK site to here…
I figured there would be a Travis Johnson post.
A few post-game thoughts:
(a) Kris Brown = Week 5 badass.
(b) Green’s “block” was cheap even if it was “legal”
(c) Travis Johnson may be right, but he picked a bad time to taunt.

dave, I still don’t think it was taunting so much as “wildly gesturing while voicing displeasure.” Agree with a and b, though.
dan, I love KSK. I wish I’d seen that before I wrote mine. Funny shit.

Not sure if I should comment/respond here or in the larger post, but…
I don’t think T.J. was “taunting” but - from a third-party perspective: a large man is standing over and “gesticulating wildly” (pointing) at a man face down on the turf and possibly unconscious.
From the official’s perspective, it certainly *looks* like taunting.
Even if T.J. had every reason to kick Green in the ribs while he laid on the field.

Oh, I agree absolutely that it looked like taunting and that’s why the refs (probably rightly) threw the flag. I just think that the overblown media response that paints TJ as the devil for “taunting” ignores the actual context of the play. If Green doesn’t get hurt, most people side with Johnson when gets up and starts screaming in Trent’s face, right?
