$3.22 per unimpressed Houstonian

Inspired by Tim’s comment here, let’s break down exactly what Ahman Green has cost the Texans thus far. All numbers based on his $6.5MM guaranteed contract.

  • $16,971.28 per total yard
  • $25,000 per rushing yard
  • $72,222.22 per week on injury report
  • $92,857.14 per carry
  • $2,166,666.67 per game with at least one 10+ yard rush
  • $3,250,000 per touchdown
  • $6,500,000 per victory over Dallas, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, and Tennessee

It’s nice work, if you can get it.

Sigh. And there was so much potential there too. Hell, if Dayne can rack up a few 100 yard games, just imagine what Ahman Green of a year ago could have done.

This one of those times the adage ‘you get what you pay for’ is compeltely wrong. Whoever says cliches are cliches because they’re true should be donkey punched… whatever that means.

To be fair, Ahman’s only made about $10 per each unique injury suffered in 2007.

I would be interested to see some kind of monteary statistics based upon Carr’s completions that were longer than 10 yards not including YAC in his career vs the sacks he’s taken.
I’m not interested in the number of total snaps he’s taken, because any qb can handoff. I also think you need to consider that the year (2004 when we were 7-9) Dominic er..Williams..accounted for almost 50% of our offense, those were all just check down passes and DD Dre (mostly short slant paterns under 10yds) padded Carr’s stats with a ton of YAC. So if we really broke it down, what would DC’s Completions be worth vs. his Sack Numbers? I feel confident in saying now that about 80% of Carr’s sacks were completely his own fault and not the OL’s. Where’s the football scientist when you need him?

btw..can you believe it’s been three years since our Franchise Record High for wins at 7-9? At this point we’re hoping we can finish with that record this year. I remember being so hopeful and excited for the next season and then BAM! they dropped that 2-14 suckfest on us. I’m starting to understand what it must feel like to be a Cardinals Fan. eh..I just puked in my mouth a little.
