Your “Vince Young, Intangibly Great QB” moment of hilarity

Oh, yes…it’s back for another year.

vs. Oakland: 4-13, 37 yards.  0 TD.  0 INT.  Sacked once.

But at least he rushed for four yards!

I think it’s safe to say that the Texas Longhorns are the only football organization that will be retiring his number/jersey. Unless, of course, he quits the NFL to play intramural flag football and/or quits dancing professionally at JR’s and Rich’s in Houston.

Some more interesting season preview by Zac from TIT.

I dont agree with his evaluation of our receiving corps but the rest of the article is worth a read.

Thought you’d appreciate this FH post by JJ:

    http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2008/08/16/young-has-some-improving-to-do/

With this damning Heimerdinger quote in it:

“I said all along that we will do a lot of things and give him lot of looks and then we’ll condense it down,” Heimerdinger said. “I think the main thing for him is to manage the game and not turn the ball over, not throw interceptions and put our defense in bad positions.”

Exactly what you want to hear about your franchise quarterback. Not.

You know, some of you just don’t get the point: the Titans WON. That’s all that matters. Now, VY is 18-11. His performance is completely irrelevant because they WON.

Oh, and this just in: last night wasn’t VY’s fault. He can’t get into a rhythm!

@bigfatdrunk: Question: If a person can’t dance because they can’t figure out a rhythm, that just makes them a shitty dancer, right?

    @Matt:
Maybe it’s because he had to wear a shirt and instead of a tequila bottle, it was a football?

@Matt: Why you asking me that question??? I can dance. Well, I can polka, at least. And two step, though I need to be really drunk.

@Eric: Gettin’ into a rhythm’s hard when you ain’t rubbing nipples with your mates.

Vince sucked some ass last night, there is no way to deny it. He did have some drops and some receivers not getting their feet in bounds, but overall he looked horrible.

It was a step backwards from last week when he looked considerably more comfortable. I think the problem was that he didn’t pick up the blitz well at all, and Oakland simply sent the house on every passing play.

I would feel a lot more nervous if not for #28 Chris Johnson. I can’t wait for him to see some serious reps in a real game. The kid is ridiculous.

Tman: Johnson is retarded fast. Wow. Still unclear as to why you guys didn’t take a WR, but might have been a steal.

@matt: I think the consensus with the pick was that CJ would offer us more playmaking ability than any of the other available WR’s in the draft. This kid is a legitimate threat to take it to the house on almost every play. He had two 1st and 10 runs last night that if it were not for a last second shoestring tackle he would’ve been gone.

While CJ looks to be a great talent, that guy has got some fucking bricks for hands. Didn’t he drop a screen pass or two, as well as a little flare pass?

@Tman: Agreed. He seems to be what Reggie Bust was supposed to be.

I’m sorta frightened of Chris Johnson. This defense is certainly susceptible to a nasty cut-back, and Johnson could easily burn us for the big one if that happens. I suspect our coaches know that though, so hopefully they’ll be spying him all game.

Oh, and VY is wicked-bad at the whole quarterbacking thing.

And in other news: I saw the bus today! He’s really not all that big. I think he’s slimmed down a lot in the past couple years.

@Tman: What does Chris Johnson’s arrival do to 2007 second-rounder Chris Henry? Is he persona non grata now?

@Tim: Henry has assumed his role from last year, and it looks like CJ jumped him in the order. For now, anways. I assume we’ll carry all three.

I think Chris Henry and Jerious Norwood are both guys that could be seriously good RBs in this league if they could only get a shot.
